Makutina, Valeria Andreevna

Ph.D. in biological sciences, clinical embryologist

In 2002 she graduated with honors from the Biological Faculty of the Ural State University (Yekaterinburg).

2000 – 2002 - In-service education program at the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Microorganisms (IBPM) in the city of Puschino.

October 2002 – July 2005 – Research assistant at the Research Institute of Biological Protection (RI BP in Moscow Region, Russian Federation)

July 2005 - September 2005 – Microbiologist at the Department of Biological Safety of Animals and Birds of the Ural Scientific Research Veterinary Institute in the city of Yekaterinburg   

Since September 2005 – Expert at the Center of Family Medicine

2007 - On-the-job training in operating an automatic sperm cells analysis system (Barcelona, Spain)

In 2010 she obtained a Clinical Embryologist Certificate of European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).

2012 - Hand-on-course in blastocyst biopsy (London, England)

In 2013 she defended her Ph.D. thesis in “Experimental evaluation of a joint effect of psychogenic stress and metals (by the example of aluminum and cadmium) on reproductive system of laboratory male rats”.

2013 – Hand-on-course in blastocyst biopsy, biopsy of embryos at the splitting stage, polar body biopsy (Moscow, Russia)

2017 – Training course in techniques of genome modification with the use of CRISPR/Cas9 in laboratory animals at Karolinska Institutet (Stockholm, Sweden)

Regular participant in international and regional seminars and conferences on embryology issues

Author and co-author of over 30scientific papers and publications, including articles in foreign magazines
